For anyone who is interested in a supervisory role, this two half-day course provides a general overview of what it’s
like to be a new supervisor in the public sector. This course will provide information to help you successfully
navigate the transition and discuss the challenges that come with being a new supervisor. By the end of the
class, participants will be able to:
Summarize steps to effectively move from buddy to boss.
Apply the appropriate leadership and communication styles to match various employee circumstances.
Comprehend the cycle to effectively manage employee performance.
Identify potential legal issues that require notification to HR.
Note: This course is recommended to employees who are interested in going into a supervisory role or are new
supervisors. Current managers and supervisors are encouraged to take the “Essential Management Skills in
the Public-Sector” Certificate Program.
