Please join us for a three-part virtual workshop on conducting internal investigations presented by Joel Locke, Esq. of Allison MacKenzie, Ltd.
This workshop will provide an in-depth, interactive, educational opportunity to ensure:

Complaints are properly received;
-
The rights of all involved parties are protected;
-
Complaints are fairly and impartially investigated; and
-
Investigation reports are clear and comprehensive.
Participants will work through a single case study from receipt of the complaint to issuance of the report over the course of three 90-minute sessions, as follow:
Part I: The Complaint (April 11, 2023):
This session will cover:
-
Receiving the complaint;
-
Determining whether investigation should be conducted internally by staff or by a third-party investigator;
-
Identifying the potential policy violation(s) and appropriate respondents; and
-
Preparing a Notice of Investigation.
Part II: The Investigation (April 18, 2023)
This session will cover:
-
Preparing for and conducting the initial interviews of the complainant(s) and respondent(s);
-
Identifying additional witnesses that will offer first-hand knowledge of the facts of the allegation;
-
Dealing with issues of confidentiality and witness statements; and
-
Developing and practicing questioning techniques for the witnesses.
Part III: The Findings (April 25, 2023)
This session will cover:
-
Distilling all of the information and witness statements into a collection of undisputed material facts;
-
Identifying disputed material facts and the strength and reliability of any evidence supporting either side of those facts;
-
Applying the applicable facts to the alleged violations of each policy; and
-
Drafting a report with findings of Sustained/Not Sustained/Unfounded as to each allegation
