Jarrod Hickman joined the POOL/PACT team as Risk Management Specialist. He works to help members enhance their risk management and safety programs to improve operations and to reduce risk to our Members, their employees, and the public they serve.  Jarrod brings a diverse background in public service and workers compensation claim administration.  Jarrod worked as a workers compensation claims adjuster for American International Group (AIG), Inc. handling incidents resulting in medical-only to complex disability claims.  

Jarrod has extensive experience in developing attorney education programs and defense specific resources, drafting regulations, proposed legislation, grant writing, and helping counties create administrative plans for public defense while serving as a Deputy Director for the Nevada Department of Indigent Defense Services.  Although Jarrod will not be providing legal services, his transferable skills will be an asset to our members.   A Texas native, Nevada is now his home. 

Stephen Romero joined the POOL/PACT team as Member Relations Manager. Stephen brings over 26 years of experience in the insurance industry.  He previously served as an agent for several of the POOL/PACT Members. He also provided brokering of the reinsurance programs for POOL/PACT.  Stephen also worked with other pools in the US to provide brokering services and helping to deliver new ideas and innovative solutions to emerging concerns faced by pools.  Stephen holds a Nevada Insurance Producer license for all lines and a Nevada Surplus Lines Broker license.  He achieved these professional designations: CISR and CIC.

With Stephen’s knowledge as both agent for Member and as a broker for POOL/PACT, the Joint Executive Committee reached a decision bring brokering and insurance placements in-house by having Stephen join the team.  In addition, he will be a resource to the Members and their Producers for processing changes, issuing certificates, processing the renewal applications and providing proposals.  As our Member Relations Manager, he will inform Members and Producers of exciting things going on at POOL/PACT.
