Department of Justice Awards Almost $190M In Grants To Support School Safety

On October 14, the Department of Justice today announced nearly $190 million in funding to improve the safety of schools across the country.

The grants, awarded by the Department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), will help institute safety measures in and around schools, support school violence prevention efforts, provide training to school personnel and students, implement evidence-based threat assessments and fund research and evaluation on the causes and consequences of school violence.

Applying for these grants may be considered a prerequisite to obtaining a POOL/PACT Risk Management Grant for school safety programs, projects, or acquisitions.
