Juneteenth Declared a State Holiday, 6/8/23

On June 8, 2023, Governor Lombardo signed Assembly Bill 140 into law, amending NRS 236.015 to add “Juneteenth Day” as a legal state holiday in Nevada, commemorating the abolition of slavery in the United States.  This act is effective immediately and requires that all state, county and city offices, courts, public schools, and the Nevada System of Higher Education must close on June 19 of each year.
